About Course

This workshop focuses on covering computational modeling  of Heat Treatment Process for quality improvement, cycle optimization and defect prediction. Workshop will enable participants to understand the fundamentals of heat treatment, thermo-mechanical-metallurgical models, diffusion laws, constitutive materials models and different heating, cooling tempering cycle simulations to predict of residual stress state in a given part after heat treatment, the evolution and final volume fractions of metallurgical phases, hardness, and part distortion, for ferrous group. There will be experts from industry sharing the knowledge.

Introduction to fundamentals of Heat Treatment Process in terms of metallurgy, mechanical and thermal processing

Simulation of heating, carburization, immersion quenching, gas quenching, spray quenching, press or fixtured quenching, and tempering

Cooling process simulation including CFD study to get the time v/s temp history, agitator location, speed optimization

Electromagnetic simulation for induction hardening to understand heat generated

Residual Stress, Distortion, Hardness Prediction

Metallurgical Phases Prediction, Phase transformation kinetics

Post heat treatment strength (influence of residual stress in service), durability (fatigue, fracture) predictions
