This Die Casting : Die Design Marathon will make the participants to give 25 different design varieties, different design approaches, simulation and optimisation to make the participant ready to design his/her own components with minimum effort. Learning in this Die Design Marathon will help the participants to easily and confidently develop the die for his/her process.

Description

Die casting is a most versatile process for producing complex shaped engineered metal parts, with a high degree of accuracy and repeatability. It permits wide latitude and flexibility in design. It is suitable for casting textured surfaces, and permits the application of a wide variety of attractive and serviceable finishes.

Die Design and  Die Manufacturing is the key element in whole process. Tool Room engineers, Die Designers struggle to meet the best quality castings in first shot, this can be achieved by properly designed and optimised toolings for a given process. However the complexity of the geometry, material, metallurgy and process parameters making it more time consuming and also demands for skilled manpower.

This Die Design Marathon is focussed on practically designing the gating systems for 25 components in 4 days by the participants and validate their design with casting simulation and optimise for best yield and quality.

This program is mentored and trained by Shri. Surianarayanan Chandrasekaran lead team of experts having more than 35 years of experience in die design, manufacturing, simulation and manufacturing of die casting components and tooling.

The primary idea of this Die Design Marathon is to give basic to advanced design complexity design methodology and exposure to the participants, where he/she will design, simulate and verify his/her design and optimise. Totally 9-HPDC, 9-LPDC, 5 -GDC and 2 General Components will be taken for the design activity.

About the instructors

35+ Years of Experience in practical Tool & Die Design, Manufacturing, Component Production, Diagnostic Studies and Simulation. He Designed, Developed, Manufactured, Supervised more than 1000 component, Tool & Die. Surianarayanan trained 4 Years of Schooling from Tool Engineering under supervision of trainers from Switzerland, got special Training from Buhler for die Casting and Die Design. He held various levels of responsibility from Tool Maker to Technical Director in various tier 1 supplier and OEMS exposure to process enriched by trials of the dies as well production.
