About Course

Metrology is the scientific study of measurement which comprises the administration of measuring instruments, application for units of measurement, and testing procedures which are commonly established in either engineering or according to standards. The purpose is to provide accurate and reliable measurements for engineering application as Metrology provides the science, techniques, and precision measuring devices that are used to determine if parts or features of parts fit within the tolerances and dimensions specified for the part.In order to thoroughly grasp the concept of measurement technically, metrology is divided into two subfields. These two subfields in metrology are: scientific or fundamental metrology, applied or industrial metrology. In the course both the field of measurements are incorporated so that engineers after completion of the course be familiar with the type of measurements, means of measurement and testing to be adopted in engineering according to the standards.

What Will You Learn?

  • Familiarity with the science, techniques, and precision of the measuring and testing devices as per national and international standards pertaining to measurement and testing.
  • Understand the working principle of different types of measuring and testing equipment’s.
  • Acquire the knowledge of the usage of the measuring/testing equipment’s
  • Confident of using the measuring devices that are used to determine if parts or features of parts fit within the tolerances and dimensions specified for the part.
